Spec's:

FX-8350 CPU (4.7Ghz)
Radeon R9 280x GPU
8GB 1866 DDR3 Ram
500GB Samsung Evo SSD

It came with a 2TB HDD as well but I broke the plastic part of SATA connector off and bent the leads when I was trying to remove it from the case :undecided:. I don't really need it right now though anyways, I will just get a 3TB one later when I do, or if SSD's continue to get better and cheaper maybe a 1-2TB SSD.

Some problems I have are

  1. It runs quite hot which makes me nervous (73C at it's max atm)
  2. I cheaped out on the case and its a pile of plastic garbage thats falling apart on me, so in the future I would like to swap out the case as well.

4.7Mhz? I think I have an old pentium from the 90s faster than that in my small cpu collection.

Inb4 correction to Ghz :)
 
Got an itel junkie over in the UK I see. AMD is cheaper and can be overclocked easier.
 
I'm very hyper-critical when it comes to operating temps so I'm worried if mine goes up to 50C and start cleaning the case, but that is very close to the Tj-max rating which i believe is usually 85-90C, @4.7Ghz you need liquid cooling, as in liquid nitrogen :tinfoil:
 
They should make a liquid nitrogen cooling system for the PC :) 8Ghz proscessors.
 
For the price, the AMD CPU was the best choice, and because it's a gaming computer the GPU was more important to me than the CPU, also the CPU has liquid cooling (not Liquid Nitrogen though :P)
 
Intel is FTW. Reason that amd chip runs so hot is the fact that it has a whopping 125W TDP. I have a 4770k build coming up, *only* 4 cores but hyper threading evens it out XD but very nice build, I'm jealous over that 500GB ssd lol!
 
Just my 2 cents. 8 cores is unecessesary for gaming. A good quad core should cut it. For about $30 more, the 3570K is a better choice, IMO.

What cooler do you have?

Another factor that your temps are high could be your case. Cheapies are usually not so good with airflow. I've been looking at the Carbide or Obsidian series from Corsair for a long time now.
 
Pfft, my GPU is running at 90C while mining dogecoins .. apparently that's normal for a 4890 :D

indeed I agree. 4770K vs a 3770K is a VERY moderate gain in performance.
~actually 5% on the real world CPU bench and around 10-12% on graphics.
my Hack Pro 3770K actually outperforms the 4770K when overclocking.
Overclocking on a 4770K is somewhat difficult due to the nature of Haswell.
