Do I need a 5, 10, 20 or 100mW one? Of course it would be cool with a visible beam, but are they really that visible as the pics say? Is it difficult to get a really visible beam in daylight/overcast weather or at dusk? Are a good 5mW visible at night?

Visibility of the beam varies with ambient lighting and conditions. In a typical club it's usually quite dark and smokey (due to cigs or smoke machines), and then the beam of a 5 mw pointer will be quite visible.
