I bought an RPL 400 Green laserfrom Jack at Optotronics (great guy) a few weeks ago for a presentation at the university.  Now that my presentation is done I no longer need the laser.

I bought it with a lens and prism kit.
It has two rechargeable batteries (use 1 at a time)
recharger
case
prism kit
3 pairs of colored safety goggles

No scratches or wear. Just used it for a morning presentation.

I paid $1600 for the laser, new.

Jack included with it a bench test that shows its output at 424 at the 8th setting (settings are 0 through 9).


I'm not sure what to ask for it but I would entertain a best offer. I will ship it anyway you want.  I am located in Virginia/North Carolina

Since you only have 1 post you might have trouble getting people to trust you.
 
It was from this site that I learned a lot. But then again I only needed the laser for a presentation.

Optotronics was easy to deal with and I thought it would be cheesy to buy it and return it. I respect Jack them and decided to hold on to it.

I bought three pairs of orange goggles for my assitatnts for safety and when I was done with the presentation I hid the whole thing away in my study.

My 9 year old has been obsessed with finding it and my wife and I have collectively decided to sell it.

As to your comment about trust, you guys are always welcome to ask Optronics about my purchase.

I was wondering why on earth you would want to sell such a good laser, but I think that is a very reasonable reason indeed :) Family first, lasers second :)

Venturi - if anyone steps up to the plate to buy this marvelous laser, and you need a middleman, I am simply a PM away.
 
You send it to Senkat, buyer pays you as soon as it gets to Senkat, and Senkat ships it out to the buyer.

Let me know what the next step is or do I just wait for someone who wants a 400mw+ laser?
 
You can always hide the batteries to keep your son from using it. 18650's aren't something you can find at the local store.
 
Yup - you got it - once someone says that they will take it - either they can pay you as soon as I receive the laser from you, or They pay me, I pay you, etc - the only part you need to worry about now - is whom will buy it :) We'll work out the small details after you have a buyer - it goes a LONG way to proving yourself on here when you use a middleman - that way everyone feels safe !

The RPL's are heavy enough - I would worry about a youngster swinging it around :P
 
quite true, but overall we really don't need a nice laser like this. I am content with a laser pointer.

I think they are really fascinating, I just don't need a laser for any more than my presentation.

However, I will admit it was uber cool.
 
Send it to me and I'll performance test it as well as be a middleman. Remember how Jack said under some special circumstances he would honor a refund. He has probably already been reading this.
When I bought my first RPL-225, which I love, I told my wife if I didn't like it or if we suddenly needed the money I could always recover 75% here or on ebay. That was to put her at ease with the $800 she discovered gone.
I plan on upgrading to the RPL-400 when I can put together the extra $800.
A fair price would be 75% of what you paid or about $1200. AND it comes with a 1 year warranty which is transferable. M $.02
