Found bunch of HeNe lasers for sale

So here in the chicago area we have a store that sells all kinds of wacky science surplus parts/toys/gadgets/and just plain weird things (for example: brake pads from an f-15 fighter jet)
I took a friend of mine there for his first time yesterday and happened to notice a big pile of HeNe heads on a shelf behind a counter. I asked one of the guys working there if there was any way to test one before I bought it and he had no idea. He said I was the first person to ever ask about them. He brought the whole pile down for me and they were all assorted lengths and sizes 3-5mw The heads were $35 each and the power supplies were $20
They were mostly made in the 80's and one had a xerox label on it.
I really know nothing about these and im wondering if i should go back and get one for the price?
There were no wavelength stamped on them only output power and serial numbers and dates.
Is there any way to guess the wavelengths of these if i was to go buy one?
 





For the price and ability to pick it up in store, I may have to get into this gas laser thing
 
I have seen many HeNes but very few without a number followed by 'nm' just in case you do not know- that is the wavelenght -if you get the model numbers from the tubes/PSs-- you can find out more info at Sam's -laser forums- including the matching PS-nm-etc. Sam also has listed the length in mm and the dia.as well- with more info you might be able to match them up and test in the store-BUT DO NOT FORGET TO AVOID TOUCHING THE PRONGS ON THE ALDEN PLUGS AFTER TRYING. Also if you can take photos of the lables and post them here we can help too. my guess is that they are all reds. good luck--Hak

Ask the seller to plug them, the red ones are a good deal for that price, but if you find any other color a part from red it's a steal.

Also, I don't think all PSU's will fit all the heads, so better make some photos and let other members here tell you ;)

I get their monthly catalog. The catalogs read like a commedian described some of the stuff !!!

Ha! I guess their site isn't any different. I see some "rainbow sparkly paper," and "bright box of rocks," with a laser search.
 
I used to order from them but found out quickly the stuff is generally over priced junk.

Sorry, but here, the phrase "Just Off the Truck", or also said "fallen off the truck" sometimes, is a slang that means that an object was stolen from somewhere ..... like saying "have you buyed it ?" - "no, i just found it after it fall off from a truck ....." :eg:

Sometimes, phrases in different languages, can end in funny mistakes :p :D

the PSU's seem reasonable but $35 for unknown gas heads seems well over the top to me as for spec's it's anyone's guess offer the guy $5 for one and if it's any good you will buy more...let's face it only laser nut's will buy them! could be a different colour other than red in which case WAHEYYYYY!
