*Feeler*considering an unconventional CNI laser.

Hey guys, need your thoughts and experience.
It was a few months ago I purchased a 40mW CNI laser from Rhd. I love the host and the wavelength.(tho it looks more orange to me then what I perceive as "yellow") I compared it to my HeNe and the color is similar. My first portable 589 yay!
Well, way before that I tried to get on board with the CNI group buy. That never happened because they aren't shipping >5mw lasers to the u.s. Now I'm outside the us currently living in Panama for the next two years. I was hoping to use this opportunity to get a CNI laser shipped to me. (I need to look at their laser laws too, if it was like customs I bet anything that doesn't smell like cocaine will fly)

Looking at their PGL III series host I noticed they offer the 80mW 589. Nice.
What's the deal with there multicolor portable lasers? Does anyone on the forum own one?
I bet they're ungodly expensive but it's a nice laser.
Secondly, is there a protocol for talking to CNI? I know LPF members have communicated with them for any over spec lasers as those would be desirable.

Living in Panama huh? I've been there on a trip once, very lovely country, just watch out for the piranhas

As for talking to CNI calling them directly is the quickest option that I've experienced. You can send them an email but that usually takes a few days longer, they are very friendly though. I also do recall member DJNY having one of their "magenta" units, he even has a video on here. Just need to find it in the search box

Yes, there are some very old threads on these dating back to '10 and '11. Alignment issues is something to consider when buying a multi color laser. I'll keep that in mind.

so you want to do a cni lasers group buy? I'd be willing to look at a portable yellow 589. But I have no idea what that would cost

But what would be the cost of an 80mW 589? Maybe I'll see what someone would be willing to trade for a used one

Last I remember the price for them went up to extremes at CNI. What used to cost $500 for that is now around $1,000!

Just look into Dragon Lasers, they sell CNI models for $499. They're 50mW Spartans usually do around 80mW anyway.

Meh, I know I could go the dragon laser route and they use CNI units but I prefer the PGL over the spartan.
Last I remember the 80mW 589 was going to be approximately $800usd after shipping and customs. With the GB it was going to be down to $7xx iirc

I might be interested in this, mainly to get some visible 561 (if that's even possible) but I'm not sure. I'm considering selling up.
