Cash for Gold (I will buy fairly!)

As a lot of folks know, Cash for Gold, (as seen on TV) is a scam, and I feel terrible that so many people are being bilked! I have been in the scrap gold business for many years, and I will pay fairly for all old jewelery and clean yellow dental scrap gold. My last happy customer was today, she sold about 10 grams of dental scrap at $12 a gram, (now, with pure gold, 0/9999 the market price is ~905 an ounce). Of course the best prices paid are for internationally recognized forms such as US Mint coins, Maple Leafs, Krugerrand etc. And most gold scrap is 12 KT, (0.50 %) through 18 KT, (0.75 %) But nobody, Nobody, should take $0.10 on the dollar for gold scrap, and many are in fact being taken advantage of! Spread the word, and hold your gold if at all possible is my advice, but if you need to liquidate, please don't get taken, and you are welcome to come to me. My folks who sell to me will tell you I am very fair. /RANT

BTW, I also make beautiful jewelry, which is why I started looking to buy gold in the first place.

Best of luck!  I pan once in a while at Cajon Creek, a couple of hours last time got me $0.86 in gold, and $5 worth of meteorite.  Have magnet, will find 'em!

Yeah, there was a piece on my local news about them.  They took some gold jewelery to some local jewelers/buyers and were offered $1400-1600 for what they had (this was "undercover").  They sent the same items to CashForGold and were sent a check for ~$450!  They refused the check and were sent a follow-up offer of ~$800.  Still about HALF of what a legitimate place would pay for it...  total scam and run by some greasy-looking fat guy that I wouldn't trust with my trash (I saw an interview with him  ;D)

Otherwise, you should consider putting a little more spit & polish into your Kenometers and maybe improve the marketing strategy for it and I'd say you should be able to sell quite a few  

I would hope that it's a more feasible way to pay the rent than to go panning for gold in them there hills...   ;D

1/2 oz, ~$450 worth? If I ever panned that much, I would be buying or building a nice sluice box and doing it 4 days a week 'till the sand stopped paying! LOL! ;D ;D ;D

Yeah last time I looked gold was worth $400 oz and it took me all day to get that amount. I'm STUNNED at $900. Only problem with pannin here is all the good rivers and such are owned and protected rather avidly. I have to find a back water creek and hit it hard.

so do you actually smelt the metal? I had from my grandfathers dental business some left over gold squares that I sent off to a gold retrieval service and they indicated that when they smelted it down, it was 40% gold, 30% paladium or some other weird but valuable metal, and copper.

I sold what I had last April (gold was about $1000 back then?) at a coin show.
I used the proceeds to buy a few coins that I wanted, it's good to see that you do not stoop to the level that CFG does.

Depends, with nuggets, I would hate to smelt them, it's mostly the dental and industrial gold and the worn out jewelry that goes to the refining process. Nuggets are worth more than the gold in them IMHO!

Hey Jaseth, I have all kinds of items of jewelry. btw, I have been thinking of making some silver heat sinks, silver conducts heat extra fast. Mostly I make rings and earrings, and I do like colored stones, fancy sapphires and tourmalines, opals etc. Have a look at my gallery on my jewelry website: www.custombyglenn.com I can make about anything save for a watch. And I have a cool diamond F.S. that will glow under a Blu-ray bright blue and then in the dark with lights out it continues to glow yellow/ green, (phosphorescent) as well as fluorescent. Several other gems fluoresce as well with Blu-rays.
