Despite the fact that it is MIT, I haven't met any laser aficionados (though I do know someone else who has a green laser and lives a floor above me).  It's not very popular here.  MIT is usually pretty liberal in terms of policies; some of the dorms allow you to even paint your room and knock down walls.

I'd like to get more people interested in this field over here.
