The violet diode is the one that is just glued to the outside (the circle at the bottom of the pic). The one circled in the middle of the sled is the little 3.6mm red diode.

Peace,
dave

thank you, did you know how much the voltage and current need for the red diode?

there you go!

stuart :)

Am I to understand this is gonna be a close to first build using a 12x BR? That is brave man!

All the best of luck to you. I look forward to the results.

yep i build my first 12x BR.

thanks for your support

What driver, host and lens are you going to use? Im currently building another 12x pointer, since my first one went down the river.

Peace

driver: maybe flexdrive V5, but i try with driver from 808nm and i want max 500mW output power
host: i don't know yet because i don't know if i want AA, AAA, or 18650 batteries and the heatsink that depend, i want from copper
lens: i think Jayrob lens 405 G1

Yes, you're certainly gonna need a glass lens of some sort and the 405 G1 is one of the best, (other lenses are available). I don't think an acrylic will like that output too much at all!

Personally, I would be careful about using the driver from a greenie, (I'm assuming that is where you are getting the 808nm driver?). In my experience, they are not as stable as the flexdrive/RCKSTR drivers. As they are mass produced; for a hardier diode, (808nm), AND; the 808nm diode only requires 2.5-3.0V... etc... I think you would do much better going for one of the more specialist drivers considering the cost of your BR.

When i turn my 12x on and put a finger over it without a lens, it gets immediately hot as hell :eg:.. I think an acrylic lens would melt under that power.

Yes i think acrylic lens may melt and it's not évident to clean it, glass lens is really better
What driver do you use?
