my green laser pointer (500mw) has now got a weird hazy blur around the point.
it is really annoying as i have tried cleaning the lens with cotton buds (q tips) and different cleaners but to no avail. if you have any tips on how to get rid of this please help.:(:thanks:

500mw we'll that's certainly a beast of a laser is that confirmed or what the label has on it

i cant seem to upload one not sure how to edit it for the 800x600 dimension :/
if you can help me with that ill upload one :) thanks for the replies tho

Use a web hosting site like photobucket and upload it to there. The copy the html link and paste it in here. Or you can use paint and resize it

hopefully you can see the speckly light around the dot which is so frustrating. thanks for the help so far :thanks:

Its hard to tell from the picture. It may just be the standard interference found it all laser pointers. Did it just stary happening?

You could try a different lens and see if it gets any better. Sometimes getting them out can be a trick though and it may not be worth the trouble. I have a really nice 650/660nm brass device on a keychain with the same problem. I would really like to swap it out because it's definitely damaged, but the lens is recessed and glued. Not even big adjustable pliers will budge it. :undecided:

No I don't have any safety glasses
Absolute must on getting googles to be safe. on less than 5mW laser take your chances probably OK ,but that's assuming the laser is only putting out 5mW a lot of cheap ones put out up to 10 times that .So with any higher power you can on a direct hit to the eye lose or damage the sight in it in a fraction of a second even of a reflection ,really before you venture future into lasers get some safety googles

I'm no expert so I can't replace the lens myself and don't know how much it would cost to be done at a store, hopefully I don't have to replace the whole laser :/
