blu ray laser wont work!

So i just put together my first blu ray laser and it doesn't work.. i know for a fact that my 115 mA driver works but i'm not too sure about my diode (PHR-803t). I was extremely careful when i extracted the diode so i don't know what is wrong... can anybody help me out??

I took the driver back off the diode to test and try a couple different things, but does it need to be soldered onto the diode to work or will it work by just touching the pins to the driver??

I would appreciate any help,

THANKS!!

you need to solder it to the diode. if the connection ever disconnects and reconnects while the cap is still charged you will blow the diode.

yea u have to have it soldered to the driver... and some times the pins on the diode gets loose and will not work

during the extraction process you could have killed the diode with static electricity. that has happened to me. Well thats atleast what i tell myself to get closure :'( make sure you discharge any electricity on your body for next time by touching a grouded metal object before working.

you for sure killed your diode by not soldering it to the pins of the driver.

there are no shortcuts for that, you must solder.

This is why I design into the driver circuit a resistor which always provides a small ( 1 - 2 mA) load for the current source to supply.  It keeps the plumbing regular  ;D This is no substitute for good soldered connections however.
