Hello everyone, I just made a new "YouTube" video called "Black&Decker cordless laser" you can go straight to my channel: laser74hobby and find it easily, it is the latest video as of today. This was a super easy prodject to build and only cost 14 dollars at "Target" for the BlackandDecker cordless screwdriver...which is perfect for an O-like module rating at 3.6v-4.2volts either large modules or regular size which is in the video. The battery inside has plenty of current to run either laser module and has the right voltage. This module now lights matches in a flash compared to using 2 AAA batteries that I was using with it in my original design. Check it out and see what you think!
 





What happens when you put it in reverse? Does the beam come out of the tail? ;)
 
Does the beam go around & around like a spiro when you squeeze the switch/trigger ?
 
More important ..... does the beam drive screws ?

Anyway is an alternative host, may worth a try .....
 
It's just a small laser host that is perfect for a green laser module from O-like 3.6v-4.2 fully charged. The motor has been replaced and only the laser module is inside...this video shows just the small brass module and not the "large" O-like module which by the way will be next. "Flash light pointers" pointers....C'MON MAN they are B O R I N G! Do something "original" and get out of the same old same old same old same pointers ect... also if you do not check the polarity of the switch before you pull the trigger, if it is wrong will destroy the laser... make sure you glue or tape the switch in a set position.
 
Is it heatsinked?
What is the output voltage of that drill?
Looks kind of cool. Would be nice if you could show us a picture, maybe even inside the drill.

some pics of your build...
You should have perhaps mentioned it now looks like a Sci-Fi
Laser gun...

I thought... and am sure the other members thought it was
this type of wireless screwdriver...

yea I saw the video, but I want to see how the module is mounted.
Is it sticking out, is it flush. Is it loose or is it tight.
I know the tip of the driver is probably metal. If it's a tight fit, it might be good heat-sinking
 
This holder have a lot of space inside, if you remove the motor and gears ..... can mount a very huge and efficent heatsink, if you want, just need to build it custom ..... hell, you can also mount inside a micro-fan :p

And about the switch, just desolder the unused poles, or wire it in parallel mode, instead as inverter, so no matter what direction you click, the polarity is always the same ..... or use the 2 positions for 2 different current presets ;)

That's boring, have one setting for kill, and the other for stun.

I think I like it-if fact I just came back from Target--HomeDepot and BigLots- cheapest B&D(same model) was 20$+tax. Still good considerering many charges offset many batteries not being purchased. BigLots had an offbrand similar but 4.8 volts for 10$+tax and most of their stuff is factory -refurbs. Heatsinking enough to eliminate a duty/rest cycle would be even sweeter IMO..+rep for the tip-my friend.---hak
 
The only thing (besides a HS) that I would change--paint over the B&D orange with flat black.
 
Heheh ..... have you ever seen some of the phasers in new star trek series ? ..... well, if you get a philips shaver (the rechargeable ones, old types) and hold it with the power plug in front, like a barrel, you will see some other similitudes ..... :whistle: :D
