best beam quality

Which diode laser has the best beam quality. I am looking for TEM00. gaussian profile, color does not matter.

DPSS lasers have the best beam profile. For a diode laser I think its a 405nm diode.

Well depends on power .. my 400mW DPSS green has many additional modes .. I would go for 405nm or red .. I mean data recording diodes .. DVD or BRD, as they are designed to have perfect beams, unlike many DPSS lasers.

Yeah but he did not specify a power rating so I immediately thought of DPSS lasers.

How come these single mode diodes produce a rectangular shape inside the dot? I have noticed this with my 405nm and 650nm diodes.

it probably has something to due with the lasing material being square shaped on a die.
