Another bad Rayfoss laser ?

Hi,

I'm a newb to the laser world, yet I've read a lot of this forum, and after reading the "How to choose your first green module" guide, I ordered this :

www.rayfoss.com

I tested it with the battery upon unpacking it, the beam was very visible at night, but after 3 or 4 laser cycles (around 30s on the laser notice) the power seem to have gone down and it is now hardly visible 0.5 seconds after I turn it on. Before that 0.5 period the laser seems to work at full power.

I tryed to recharge the battery, it took around 20 mins but nothing have changed.

I don't know if I did something wrong, is this normal ?

Thanks for your help !

Take a piece of paper and shine the laser on the back, and look at the front of the paper. Does it have a faint red glow on the paper?

Never look into the laser.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I couldnt see any red on paper. But again, I tryed outside and after a very short period of time the power goes down to a nearly invisible beam...

All good advice tj, especially about NOT looking down the front of the laser. GOOD JOB !

+3 REP for ya...................... rob

I sent my "200mw" focusable green from rayfoss I bought dec of 2009 to jakegt for testing. He informed me today it's actually 116mw peak with around 20mw of ir...Wish I had it metered after I received it, but oh well, not much I can do now. Is it just me or are o-like and rayfoss kind of hit and miss these days?

Rayfoss has been going down hill for a long time. I dont know why people still recommend them. O-Like still has a decent rep regarding cheaper lasers.

tj, I think it's time we bury the hatchet between us, as long as it's not in the back of each others skulls, lol !!! DEAL ???

haha, no skull hatcheting please

But I am quite peculiar about rayfoss now a days. My first high powered laser was a 100mW rated version of the B03.

I asked her to make SURE for SURE that it was up to spec, it says >100mW so i expected 100mW (not an ir filtered model)

The one she got me, was 175mW peak, wth 15mW of IR content. It would average and stabilize at 150mW for the 60 second run times I would do.

I just now, today, metered a members rayfoss 200mW FLX, and it did 115mW MAX, settled around 100mW, and had 20mW of IR content.

Seems quite off and on. Maybe you just need to tell them it better be a good up to spec laser, to make sure it is

Hi, I got a change battery for my voltmeter, bad thing is I have no idea how it works.

here is a pic of the thing :

If I set the device on DCV 1000, It reads 004 .. no idea what i'm doing tho

I have no idea how that works.

@ Rob. I thought we agreed we are two different people, and I would not troll you anymore. I haven't trolled you, have I? I dont know what else you want me to do.

well I don't think this is a multimeter, but shouldnt it be able to test a battery ?
