yes, a heat-radiating beast. you'd need a TEC to keep its case temp within safe limits. take a look at this site: http://www.roithner-laser.com/ ... plenty of laser stuff. I bought some ARC collimator lenses from them.
 
You email them requesting a preliminary shipment of 10,000 probably..

is a multi mode just 2 laser semiconductors stacked on top of each other to double the power?

It is a shame..I would have loved for it to be a single mode diode. Even though it comes in a 9mm can there are mounting options for it. 500mw's of sweet red sure would be nice.
