120 mw Blu-Ray DX laser Pointer

Hi i have just finish my blu-ray DX laser pointer and it does 120mw but can do 150mw but i turn it down to 120mw it also as a high end driver running it on two CR2 plus i also put a glass lens in for better beam and focus .I will be selling this on ebay soon so keep your eyes out i will let you know when its on there.

This laser burns great hope you enjoy the pictures.

I am trying to think what to do next because i have a blu-ray diode that can do 200mw i was going to do a module laser out of it or should i try to make a laser pointer out of it ?.

I love the recycling of a photon phalus (dilda) Looks very good.
 
is the negative grounded to the case?

i have always been confused by how pen and dilda style lasers work.
 
It's not a 6x diode i do not mod my lasers the diode i use in this pointer i done now is a 150mw doide i am running it at 120mw but does peak at 133mw then goes down and stays at 120 to 124mw it runs at 210ma. The 200mw diode i got runs at 420ma so got to use a high power driver .

The 6x diode you talk about should only do 65 to 70mw after that to get more power you over drive it so its a mod and makes the life short on the diode.

a 6x laser pointer is not in the same class as my laser pointer because one its not modded and two its a diode that does that power and was made to do it .

you can get high power blu-ray diodes if you know where to get them from and when you know people who work for big companys it makes my job easy.

you might think a 6x blu-ray is the thing now in the shops to get but next years blu-ray is already on the work bench which is 8x or 10x and is already been made they are not going to sale it now because they want to sale as many 6x blu-ray before bringing out the next model.

in the high tech world of video,tv and hifi what you buy today is out of date by tomorrow .
 
So you got about 135mA driving that thing? How's the temperature after about 5 minutes of use? Nice mod, btw. :)

so you somehow snatched a diode with more power than a 6x? Interesting that you've been able to get one through the company you work at.

If the diode was intended to go into a HD or BluRay drive and you use it in a laser pointer, you are doing extensive modding!

Do you have a data sheet for these amazing diodes you are using?

Hmmm... we've learned that Coherent Laserchecks under-represent power at 405nm, which means that if he's showing 121mW in that photo it's really putting out 140mW or more. There's pretty well no way that's a 6x diode, unless he took all those photos in the 1 minute that the poor thing survived... ;D

Which makes this a rare find indeed. I'll be damned if I bid for it on eBay though. Too much competition and too many sniping robots. If he ever lets us bid for them here, I'll try. ;)
 
Nice, I see you are putting a lavadrive2 (flexdrive) to good use. Can you say what model the laser is from, and I second the request for a representative data sheet.
Also, did you use the stock dilda lens?
