1000mW 445nm against Marshmallow...

I've read a few posts recently talking about burning
a marshmallow with our new 445nm LDs...

So.... I went out a bought some marshmallows...
I set my 445nm LD to 1000mW output and focussed
the beam onto the marshmallow. I needed to film the
experiment through safety goggles to be able to see
something.. At 1000mW it just overwhelmed the camera..

Here is a link to download the .MPG video...

Things start happening about 17 seconds into the movie...
and you can turn down the background sound...

I put it on YouTube for you (I gave full credits in the description). Let me know if you want it changed/removed for any reason.

ID is 8R5Up2RNX8M if you want to add it to the O.P.

Laser Smores!
Haven't had smores since I was a wee lil one. Think its about time.

Nice video. :p

I once melted some chocolate with my watt 532nm system... stuff tasted terrible.

You don't even need a watt to melt chocolate... I do it with 135mW of blu-ray :D It will sizzle and blacked too - doesn't make for good s'mores though as that burnt carbon taste just doesn't do it for me ;)

Wow, that's really something. I've seen many comments about how horrible lased food tastes, does anyone know of a food that tastes good after a good lasing?
