If you still have the button and the button is not damaged, you should be able to solder it back on. :) If the button IS broken, you MAY be able to find another at a seller like radioshack. (radioshack.com) It's not like you damaged the diode, so it's pretty fixable. ;)

They look nice! One question though. If it's over 5mW shouldn't it be > 140mW not < 140mW? I thought 5mW was done as < 5mW because 5mW lasers do not supposed to output any more then 5mW. On the other hand, higher powered usually lists the minimum. You probably know a lot more about lasers...

Is it by laser heat or the laser brightness? And what about beam diameter? As it gets bigger power decreases. All lasers have different beam diameters. Would you be able to make a meter with a photoresistor? (including some other parts)

Wouldn't it be awesome if you shined your laser into the sky, then someone else did too. And then you talked though flashes? (morse code)

Then yeah, that would be almost impossible to fix. Maybe just buy a diode for about 20 USD.
