Absolutly NOT the case (at least for me). When mine dimmed I could not see the beam at all, even in a completly dark room or outside. It dimmed to less than my 5mW red 4 year old Target pen.

X27 ::) Maybe you should write in the "Dim DX 30" thread stating that the switch is not the issue. I don't think anyone has taken it apart that far yet to find out.

Guess they send out generic replies too.  That is the exact same response I got when I wrote about my dim 30mw...I hate generic responses from companies.

Has anyone tried the switch issue on a 30mw True yet? I am out of town for the week and still want to solve the issue instead of sending it back and waiting another month and a half to get my next one that very well could do the same thing...

I just got my True 30 two days ago and same exact deal. Bright for about .5 sec then dims so much I cannot even see the beam at night. We got to figure this out if it is happening to this many people. I also tried 3 sets of brand new batteries (alkaline).

Well, I put in the brand new batteries and it worked good for about 5 times (around 5 seconds each time) then it faded again.  Does this thing really eat up batteries that much?  Tons of people have this unit and I haven't heard of any problems like I am having.  2 sets of batteries and 1 minute...

I think that may be it. I have Rayavac in right now and it still fluctuates but is much better. I guess the ones supplied can't supply high demands for long periods of time. Hopefully that is it, thanks.

I finally got my 30mW from DX. When I first push the button it is pretty bright but I can visually watch it fade. After it fades it is not that bright. Happen to anyone else. Lasers don't have a "burn in" do they? Should I contact DX?

I am going to go with the 30mW True one.  Like I originally stated, I am just going to be using this for the beam and pointing.  I was just curious about the power. On the bottom of the page it says... "Comparison: About 2 times brighter than the 5mW green laser" How is it only 2 times brighter...

Thanks for the replies. Question about lasers in general... Does the wavelength of a certain color laser make it more powerful? i.e. a 100mW green laser has more burning power than a 100mW red laser just because of the wavelength? Is this false and 100mW is the same strength regardless of...

Thanks, I just noticed this... "Reported by a number of fellows from our forums, as most China-made green lasers do not come with an IR filter, protective eye wears are required while using this laser. If you are not sure what this means, get the 5mW version which is as safe as regular red...

Well, forget that I said anything... I went to pick up the DVD-RW my friend had and it turned out to be a CD-RW and DVD-ROM.  GRRR I will have to get one some other way.   My plan was to use my mini mag body for the project.  I don't know what I can use to power it though since Gazoo said...

Hmm I just noticed the 30mW version by wish for not much more. The 50mW appears to be cheap (made by another company).
