    Suggested way to focus UV?

Doh! I've just deleted a load of quotes! Oh well, no harm, I guess.

Thanks. I've deleted all my quotes.

    Suggested way to focus UV?

Mostly my stuff is digital logic, taking much less than 35mA. Power tracks would have to be thicker, which would necessitate a rather long and boring repetitive draw. Being able to control the width of the focus, and slow the speed (or raise the power) accordingly would be great, though...

    Suggested way to focus UV?

Through the side of a bottle would introduce distortion, so vertically down into a test tube, maybe?

    Suggested way to focus UV?

Brilliant! Thanks very much. I haven't put anything together yet. I wanted to check that it wouldn't be a waste of time in the end. "Are you mounting the diode to a CNC/printer and sending it g-code?" That's what I was thinking of, yes...

    Suggested way to focus UV?

I thought I'd mentioned what I'm thinking of, but maybe it was in another thread. It's simply to draw, using a homemade x-y plotter with a uv laser attached, a printed circuit board layout (that is, the copper bits) onto uv-sensitive board, before etching it in the usual way. This is as an...

    Suggested way to focus UV?

Thanks. I want to pinpoint focus a UV diode, and the cheaper the better. If it's not possible with those ones, what would you recommend? (Sort by price, low to high! : )

    Focussing?

Hello. I'm not ready to try it yet, but I'd like to get all my ducks in a row before I do. How is a laser (say red) actually focussed? Whatever the size of the dot, it appears to the eye as a speckly blob. How can one see tiny variations in focussing accuracy? (Not to mention with an invisible...

laser diode pcb maker, engrave metal

Ok, I'll check that out. Thanks again.

laser diode pcb maker, engrave metal

That's exactly what I want to do! I've previously made a printed-film exposure box, but was disappointed with the reproduction of fine detail - bits of track missing, etc. I used 50 or so standard 20mA uv leds (going through glass - it was an old scanner box tbh). The exposure time was only 40...

    Suggested way to focus UV?

If it's dim through the safety glasses, can't you just make a small fluorescent area on a piece of card (eg. with a highlighter) and shine it at that? Talking of UV, is it possible to focus the fairly cheap 3-5v modules from eg Aixiz to a 0.1mm dot, with a depth of field of say 3-5mm so that...

    Another safety question....glasses for 405nm?

Those are out of my price range. I'm thinking of ordering these https://odicforce.com/epages/05c54fb6-7778-4d36-adc0-0098b2af7c4e.mobile/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/05c54fb6-7778-4d36-adc0-0098b2af7c4e/Products/OFL141-X2&ViewAction=ViewProduct also from OdicForce in the UK, for use with 405nm...

    Multiply-packaged diodes/modules?

Hi, thanks, but a 6mm spacing is about 3 times too big :) ... unless they can be broken open, to use just the pcb? I'll give it a try - it'll take some ingenuity to retain the use of the lenses though.

    Multiply-packaged diodes/modules?

I strained hard to be polite and ignore the sarcastic condescension but eventually snapped, sorry.

    Multiply-packaged diodes/modules?

Because it would be a lot easier to have an 11-pin package ready made, than to align and solder up 10 smd diodes (if they exist).

    Multiply-packaged diodes/modules?

Thanks for the grating idea, but I want to sweep the 10 beams across a screen, controlling each individually. "There isn't any real reason for such a thing" It's surprising, some of the things that are available, and that people find reasons for using. A lot of electronic components come...

    Multiply-packaged diodes/modules?

Hi all - I'm wondering if multiple (say red) lasers are available in a single package? A line of ten with a separation of 2mm would be perfect. Or alternatively SMD ones that i can solder myself? Ideally including mini lenses for parallel beams.. It doesn't sound that outrageously esoteric to...

    Single mode, or...?

Thanks, yes, I hadn't really thought of using an IR laser because of being nervous about the invisible beam. I think I'd rather stick with a visible one for that reason, and the relative ease of focussing. I did do a little googling about thermal paper, but turned up nothing on the ideal...
