I tried re-aligning it. Seemed like an exercise in futility. I don't plan on throwing it out though. I disassembled it and now I'm wondering if I can replace the diode/laser with a new, better quality one. Any suggestions? Much appreciated :)

OK, thanks for the advise. Battery out. Never to be used again. Crazy, they seem so innocuous but they're NOT! The light is hardly visible. Of course, that's because it's IR radiation. I'm glad I asked. Thanks again.

Thanks for the replies everyone. How do I know which one/brand make good lasers? There are so many to choose from. Usually you get what you pay for, I get that, but is there a particular brand(s) that is better than the others?

Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible to fix my broken laser 301. It rolled off the table when I had the front cap off and when it hit the floor the front piece popped off. Bummer. Nothing broke on it and when I place the piece that fell off where it belongs I can see green light shine through...
