    Burning steel wool + lasers

Thanks everyone, was great fun making the pics and very easy. I don't have a lpm but the blue is about 1.3w of 445nm and the green is just a lowish powered 532nm. :p

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Thanks, yeah I do realize that it will be quite dim compared to green, just wanted to get a decent power 660nm laser. I'm not going to be doing any match lighting or burning with it, got 1.8w of 445nm for that. :D

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please So I was looking through ebay and found this, "660nm 200mW Red Laser Dot Module 12mm Diameter 1 Pcs | eBay" does anyone know if it is likely to be on spec or like a lot of Chinese laser stuff under or over...

I got £30 and I want to buy a good laser

I have a purple 301 laser that can pop balloons if correctly focused, and it cost me about 11 AUD. Mind you it was probably a lucky buy, you may need to get more then one to find one that is high enough power... Most probably can only pop the cells on the back of your eye... talking about eyes I...

A-Holes of fooltube we all need to flag.

Good idea, commenting will hopefully help people to think twice about safety if they get a laser and getting the stupid videos reported will hopefully reduce the people trying to copy them. That dude with the dog is a moron... he could have, or might have blinded traffic and was distracting...

Most famous youtuber showing us how to not use a laser

What a moron. I can just imagine all those kids that watch his channel wanting to get a high power laser now, and ruining their vision or doing worse things....

    got my first greenies

I thought that if you were burning up close the IR could pose similar dangers to visible laser light, especially if what you are burning is slightly reflective, for example plastics. I would agree with what you said if it is being used to shine around outside. Correct me if I am wrong though, I...

    got my first greenies

I have a 301 405nm laser and I quite like it, it can burn stuff which is kind of nice. I hope you are using safety goggles when you burn that can both block out the 532nm wavelength and any IR that it probably produces. :)

    Magnifying glasses

Interesting, so even though looking at the spot from the sun can look much brighter, the laser is more dangerous. I guess there is also the fact that the human eye can't pick up some laser wavelengths very well which would make it even more dangerous. Good to know there isn't a very high chance...

    Magnifying glasses

Reading through these forums I have found a lot of people talking about the dangers of high power lasers and the need to use goggles. Yesterday a 1.8w laser module that I had bought from DTR came in the post and I used it to burn random stuff around the house, with good goggles of course. (I'm...
