Maser - Active Cooled MagLite 2D laser 445nm

Here ya go as promised. Ran the test for 5 min. Actually ran it for much longer . I lost track of time then I realized the software actually doesn't stop. The laser was warm but not hot. And it looks like power output increases over time if starting from cold. That just tells me I have...

Maser - Active Cooled MagLite 2D laser 445nm

Not exactly my long term report but I have to say for those who are looking to do the same. 5W has solved my problems. I am able to vaporize the tissue of those pesky aiptasias and I can say with certainty that the big ones that were not deeply embedded in the rocks or in a crevice are...

Maser - Active Cooled MagLite 2D laser 445nm

Well just an update. I just upgraded this build with 3.5W NDB7A75 445nm Laser Diode from DTR. Using the 3A xdrive. My LPM measures 4.5W and I can still run this thing continuously. Heat seems to be properly managed but I only tried a 5 min test. A little afraid to go longer due to cost of...

    3.5W NDB7A75 445nm Laser Diode

yea the whole thing is installed into a custom heatsink with the regulator soldered directly to the diode. I guess if the diode gets too hot and requires this extra cooling then I'll figure something out and move the regulator else where.

    3.5W NDB7A75 445nm Laser Diode

Just received the module and I got a question. Is the copper heatsink the diode is pressed into epoxied to the aluminum barrel screwed to it? I can't seem to unscrew it.

    i'll take it! i'll send u a pm

    3.5W NDB7A75 445nm Laser Diode

will you be selling your NDB7A75 with the drivers? Would be easier to source everything from one location.

    3.5W NDB7A75 445nm Laser Diode

So what drivers are you folks running this with to get 5w output?

High powered host with long duty cycles

Oh just saw the NDB7A75 on DTR's. 5W is nice. Anybody use those? I can definitly just swap this diode into my maglight build. But what I noticed is , how does one supply 4.4A @ 4.7V to this? Don't see any drivers that can go up that high. And the divergence looks pretty wide.

High powered host with long duty cycles

5w diode? I'll have to check DTR but what would be ideal is 2 5W diodes !! I want 10W+ But I'll settle for 7 or 8. To be honest I don't know how much I need, I just want as much as I can get with long duty cycles. Basically I don't want to have to worry about burning out the laser because I...

High powered host with long duty cycles

I've already built a waterproof laser. Problem is there are certain spots I can't get to due to length of the laser. Also I get pretty lazy and a lot of times I prefer to zap them during commercials when watching tv. It would just be nice to have a super high powered laser for this. So...

High powered host with long duty cycles

I've built a couple host now for killing pest in my fish tank using 2.4W lasers and what I'm finding is that the pest have deep tissue layers. I can burn off the top but I just don't have enough power to burn off lower layers. They keep regenerating! So what I need is more power. Does anyone...

    Waterproof laser - reef application

its not icecream! 5 min in salt water isn't gonna harm anything. My SPS corals don't seem to notice the effects. And I don't see any corrossion on the aluminum (i follow up with fresh water baths after every use). I think based on my LPM graphs, cooling fins would definitely give me more...

    Waterproof laser - reef application

To follow up with my previous requirements for killing pest in a reef tank. 2+ watts of 100% duty cycle lasers in the 445nm spectrum. I should be able to leave it on until the batteries die. First I have to give credit to DTR for shipping those modules out so fast. I've killed a few modules...

    FS: Feilong 6000mAh 32650 Li-Ion Batteries

thanks for the batteries. These are the same ones I used in my Maser build. 1HR continuous test for 2.7w laser with no problems. Shipped fast and works perfectly.

Introducing the 10W Rubicon X LPM!

thanks for the rubicon. Its actually pretty nice and easy to use.

What are you attempting to accomplish with your builds?

Maser - Active Cooled MagLite 2D laser 445nm

Has anyone else posted their builds with LPM posted on extended runs (1hr test or more?). I'd love to see performance numbers from others so I know how the power compares.

Maser - Active Cooled MagLite 2D laser 445nm

Here is the data to backup the build. 2.675W average 3600 seconds test time 85.5degree F start temp, 90.2 F at half way, 96.0 F at the end of the 1hr test. I've updated the LPM output

It may not be obvious in the photos but there are 4 holes spaced 90 degrees apart. Trust me theres enough airflow.
