    Okay, thank you!

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

I wouldn't be trying to burn anything. If focused out and a dog is on a lead 15-30 ft in front of the laser and happened to look at it while spotting, I assume it could easily cause damage?

What am I looking at with this ~250mW red laser for safety at the most unfocused. Say I was using it in the woods for scouting off of the rifle, would it be safe to use in my hand without glasses outside? As long as I'm smart about it?

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

Okay, I have a Panasonic unprotected for a headlamp. I'll use that while setting this up until I can grab a good battery. Thanks!

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

Do I have to worry about unprotected or proctected cells? I have a Panasonic unprotected for my Armytek Wizard Pro headlamp, but it has built in features for unprotected cells. Do I NEED a protected cell for the laser I got? When I get that laser am I alright to run the unprotected battery...

    Will do!

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

I just pulled the trigger on a Sci-fi red 200mW 660nm laser. Focusable and constant on/off. Looking forward to it. I already have a good 18650 charger so I grabbed a $2 battery (not sure what to expect with that) but either way $47 total shipped. Expected in 3 weeks or less.

    Good luck!

    Battery Issues!

Go with Panasonic or Sanyo 18650s ordered online from a trusted source. Also, what charger did you get? If you didn't overpay you probably got a good one which is half the battle. But, if you did overpay then I suggest returning it for this: "18650 Charger XTAR WP2" in google. I ordered mine for...

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

I think with that wavelength you get into tricky territory when it comes to spooking the animals. The circular beam would actually work well since you're scanning for eyes then waiting until you find it. I appreciate the suggestion as it's a good one. I just can't take a chance with the shorter...

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

Very understandable, but to be honest with you lasers scare the crap out of me and I probably wouldn't even use it indoors AT ALL haha. Probably hard for some of you guys to believe, but this will be on a gun, or battery hidden away so no one gets their hands on it.

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

Well alright, sounds good. Glad it wasn't as difficult as I thought. Safety would be quite easy with a laser like this given it is mounted permanently at the end of my rifle. Being on the other end is the wrong end, laser or not.

I will check it out. Should all focusable lasers be able to focus out enough to light up a good sized area at 100+ yards? Or should I worry that I might grab one that isn't sufficient for this application.

I figure it would attach on the underside of my rifle. It is a 260 Remington which is a fairly lower recoil weapon, it will be mounted on a custom fiberglass stock which is heavy enough to reduce a good amount of recoil. It could also be setup separately if the recoil is a huge factor, as long...

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

$30 sounds very good to me for what I'm looking for. I read the topic on the guy who shot his eye with a 1W blue laser and I cringed the entire time. I am big on safety and will be diligent for sure. An hour or two would be typical. It wouldn't really have to be on non-stop, but periodically...

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

Haha you'd be surprised. Before I dive into lasers, this seems possible. My next question would be, depending on my setup, what am I looking at for run time, what batteries, and is heat an issue with long term use of a laser. Again, I know nothing about lasers, if this pans out I can spend...

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

Wow that is very far for what I'm looking for, 300 yards is a good distance at night. How much would a similar setup cost? And, how easy is it to just "get into it." Lights are pretty self explanatory, lasers, I know less about.

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

As stated above, you have to have the red light because it does not scare the animals as much as white light. Problem with Red light is it's inefficient for throw. It takes a lot of battery power to get to even 100 yards with enough light to positively identify an animal. Filters remove all but...

    Non-typical Hunting Laser Recommendation

Here goes nothing, I don't know too much about lasers, but as I was inquiring about a red LED for hunting, someone mentioned an unfocused red laser would have much better throw and would work similarly. I'm not looking for a debate on ethics, just as if this has ever happened, or if it is even...
