What do you use as a battery supply? I was gping to use the 3x aaa holder in the flashlight and solder leads to it but it only tests at like 4.2v and my driver is 5-10v

One last thing. This is a 3.8mm 300mw 650nm single mode diode. The laser says it is case/ld negative and require a driver that can operate with a continuous geound or the diode should be isolated from the ground. Im so lost lol

Ok guys i got the diode today. All excited i tore apart one of my mini flashlights that has 8 leds in it and takes 3 AAA batteries. I took the holder out of the light and hooked it to the laser. It was very bright for a second then and now its very dim. Did i burn it out somehow? Surely it can...
