I just don't get it.. the laser seems definitely stronger then the china made 5mw ebay lasers i bought by a long shot... but it starts of strong, and dissipates to being like the 5mw ones... I do feel the laser pointer getting hot at times though.. could heat effect the performance? I know...

Also Innovative lasers offers this battery : IMR 18350 Rechargeable Lithium Battery, he says it's better than the 16340.. would you recommend that? thanks

crap.. do you recommend any diodes that aren't "made in china" and are probably better quality? it just bothers me that this guy did it in the video just fine and made it look perfectly easy with the parts I have. and in a dark room you can see the laser beam, but it certainly isn't 1W... could...

I think it will be a little easier if I just purchased a new diode and tried one more time, this time i will use electrical tape and not short out the module or diode.. it should work?

I have little to no experience when dealing with electronics in general.. i do not know how to build a test-load and would not know how to test the driver. I am not familiar with electronics DIY. So shorting out the diode probably did the damage? i mean it still works just not as strong...
