ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

I agree, unless the mirrors can move in a micro second, it shouldn't look like that!

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

I'm still a bit puzzled by the staircase effect. The code is doing "SetX" and then "SetY" which are being sent to the DACs. Even at 9600bps, assuming the complete I2C command is (say) 10 bytes (which actually makes my statement about doubling the speed sending one byte rather than two...

ARDUINO & DAC for XY projector

After reading a bit, the Arduino Wire library is fixed at 100kHz, which is approx 10,000bps which is slow, and why the circle is steppy. Have a read here Faster I2C - Arduino Forum which explains how to increase that four fold to 400kHz. That'll give you four times the speed which will make it...

    It's possible?

< not sure if serious....? > I certainly wasn't being serious!

Most Ludicrous Power Claims per $

Hehehe, nice try but if you look further down the ad they state the output power to be 3000mW :) Still a ludicrous power for the price. I have found a few that state 50W throughout the advert... daft buggers! Also found an advert for a 600W YAG laser module. A real one. WANT! :D

    It's possible?

As they can actually manufacture anti-matter now, if you could manufacture enough of the right sort of anti-matter you could manufacture a laser made from anti-matter. Shouldn't that emit anti-photons which should collide with normal photons and then both are destroyed? Ok, it wouldn't be...

Complete guide to owning lasers- Please Read

Great guide, thanks for taking the time to write it. :) Just one observation, in this part:- " GET YOUR LASERS LPM'd: Now Laser Power Meters (LPM) are expensive but it is always advised to know your lasers true output. You cant tell a lasers power by the beam and if you think you can then...

Geodes & EU members selling green lasers?

Yeah, I don't expect to see the beam, I was thinking more of seeing the reflections, but am hoping that the internal structure within the geode would cause the beam to bounce and split, so after they've been bounced around & split a couple of dozen times you could see literally dozens or...

Geodes & EU members selling green lasers?

I think I see why the cautious advice, I am certainly NOT thinking of or planning on shining the 150mW laser into a geode! :) Maybe I should have started two threads to avoid confusion, but too late to do that now. I've got a keyring pointer, roughly the size of an AAA battery that is <1mW...

Geodes & EU members selling green lasers?

Re: I'm an EU sponge! Of course usual safety procedures apply, but for something like that I imagine an R, G and B 1mW lasers should give an idea if it looks great or bad.

Geodes & EU members selling green lasers?

Just joined and having fun going through the various threads, been reading page after page after thread, and jumping off to Google / Wikipedia looking up all the terms and soaking up all the knowledge I can glean by lurking. I like learning new stuff. One thing I'd like to ask is are there any...

Happy Photons to All from the UK!

Hi all, Just joined and ordered a nice little 1.4W 445nm laser. Had a couple of "cat chasing" toys for a while and always fancied something more powerful, didn't have a clue that blue lasers were this powerful until I came across this forum :) Hi all! Richard
