    The "oops my eye" thread.

This needed a follow up. At this point I wish it was a laser burn as I had thought and was originally diagnosed with, but instead it is a serious infection of my retina and the rest of my eye. I'm taking a systemic drug and have had multiple intravitreal injections (needle in the eye), and...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

Sadly it is all laser damage, although the laser damage might have caused a secondary injury. All the debris that is floating around in the vitreous fluid, the jelly inside your eye, is "liberated retina tissue", basically the rods and cones I burnt off are floating around. While I understand...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

I haven't updated this with any information in a few weeks. However things have essentially gotten worse, continuously, since the initial burn. Here's the log I've been keeping. 6/29/2014 Driving across the state. My eye has essentially gotten worse over the course of the entire week. The...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

Actually is a good idea. I have an eye patch already that I wore for a couple days after the Atropine drop I was given anyways. The floaters are incredibly annoying. The small blur/blind spot I had was "tolerable" but these are just f-in annoying. Enough that if the retina specialist says he...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

I'm not working at the moment due to other life circumstances, my Father is very late stage cancer and I'm helping to take care of him. My Bachelors degree is in Computer Science, and for that no, the eye damage wouldn't make a difference. However, while I have an almost innate ability for...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

One positive thing today though, yesterday before calling the hospital I was not able to read with my right eye. Today I can again. I have a theory on it, that dead tissue on the retina was breaking free causing the extra blur, and that necrotic tissue is now floating around in the vitreous...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

I'm 34. He said that the brain would try and correct for it in time, be it months or years. It's the stupid floaters that are killing me, being that they just started yesterday. Everywhere I look I have this line of dots. The doctor did say if I got more in the next couple days to come back...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

So saw an ophthalmologist yesterday. Pretty much the same as the optometrist said, permanent. Through out the day the right eye cleared up again so I can read with it. The hospital tested my vision as 20/30 in the right vs the 20/20 it was a couple days before. I now have a strand of like...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

I am actually, leaving to go to Seattle. Harbor View ER has an optical department, which is what I was referred to after talking to UW Medicine and Virgina Mason. Thank God for health care.

    The "oops my eye" thread.

I'm not sure if it's really possible, but somehow today my eye seems worse, like the blurry spot has moved almost dead center into my right eye. If I cover my left eye I pretty much can't read with the right. Everything else is clear, just dead center, bam, blur. Sigh. It's been four days...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

Yeah, it's pretty much permanent. I was light-hearted about it when I went in, he actually said it looks similar to types of intentional burns used in eye surgery, just in a very bad location; I basically gave myself laser eye surgery. It -might- get better, but it's not likely. I'm going...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

Stopped by the Dr and grabbed the picture of my retina. Added it to the first post and indicated the areas on it. You can see just how close I came to losing sight in that eye. Still wearing the eye patch, my right eye is still slightly dilated from the Atropine drop, but it has helped the...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

It wasn't a fence persay, it was kind of like the fabric material they use in batting cages (trying to think of an analogy), where you can easily see through it and put your fingers through it, not metal, it was black fabric. It was more a slip of the hand, but being that it was 1am my pupils...

    The "oops my eye" thread.

While everything below is and was true at it's time, new medical information has shown that this was not laser damage. Regardless, treat them with respect. ---------------------------------------------------- Yeah so, I'm obviously not a regular poster here, but I read a lot and have built...

    Is it dead?

Thank you, that's pretty much what I was looking for. I've used open can diodes, the lpc's, I've just never removed the can from a diode and then ran it. Thanks

    Is it dead?

The dot is irrelevant, unless it's the new dot after can removal, in which case it's perfect. As I said there was a mark on the diode window, which was removed with the can. The question was if an open can (which it now is) M140 will survive. Thanks

    Is it dead?

Going to necro my own post. The original picture I believe is gone, but what it was was the diode with out collimator showing the rectangular diode output but in the middle was a big blotchy mess and it wouldn't collimate properly, just a mess. Last night I was bored, had just got my package...

    Is it dead?

Is there a safe was to clean the window on the diode can? Rubbing alcohol and a qtip? Photography lens wipes and solution?

    Is it dead?

This first post here is mostly irrelevant now, please see my newer post below #4, just didn't want to start a new thread for the same diode. And the picture was hosted on a personal server whose static IP has changed and I'm too lazy to update the DNS records right now. In fact the picture...

    Hello from the Olympic Peninsula

Thanks for the welcome. I see your point about the 50mw being a bit strong to play with the dog, it's usually during the daytime, outside when the <5mw I have can't be seen very well, but yeah a direct hit to the retina wouldn't do the dog any good. Of course you bring up the subject of liking...
