Some diodes are more efficient than others, so it could just be your diode. If you look at some of the charts in the forums you will see where they have comparisons from one persons test results to another. A 200 mW variance is not uncommon. Glad you got it to stop powering off!

I would get some cooling spray and cool the end where the driver is. If it stays on, heat is your issue. If not, then it is time to look at other possibilities. What are you using for batteries? With that driver you should be running two 3.7 V Lithium Ion batteries. For a 7.4 V total. If...
