try to use a antistatic wrist strap when wirking directly with the diodes...maybe you have a floating ground on the pc or a ground loop on your house, i've had similar problems and had some grould loops on my house, i fixed that and was enough

Ouch. That sounds horrible. I once had a little accident with a 1W handheld, but thankfully it was a reflection from a window and no permanent damage was done to any of my eyes. Either way, it was really scary. Best of luck to your friend, hopefully he can recover his eye anytime in the future.

yes you can do it but you need to make or buy a very precise aligning system for it to produce a high quality combined output

Well I wasn't focusing it (it isn't focusable unless I use something external), but the distance I was pointing it from the candle was pretty short, and according to the video it shouldn't be so hard with 1w. And i'd like to know the required mw to light a candle aswell.

Just tried that out with my spartan 1w 447nm and I couldn't do it, only a lot of smoke. I know this could be because of a lot of other factors, but I couldn't light a match "the hard way" either. It does burn, but I couldn't catch fire anything with it. Does this mean the laser could be underspec?

So I've been using these batteries lately, and recently I noticed that the laser is heating faster than before. It gets warm in less than a minute. I'm not sure I should keep using them.. could someone please give me more advice on the subject?
