FS: Red Dvd Burner diode with housing

I believe it is just the diode with 2 wires coming out that I had hooked up to a bread board and built my drive on the breadboard to test the entire circuit. I could include all those pieces if wanted (resistors,capictors)..

FS: Red Dvd Burner diode with housing

Hey all.. I've decided this isn't the hobby for me and have only used my laser diode 1 time. IT came out of (I believe) an 8x dvd burner drive (could have been 4x but I think it was at least 8x). It's enough to pop black balloons and light matches heads with a black sharpie mark on them. I've...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

I got my glasses yesterday! they are great! I tried the laser at 200mw with them on, i can still see the dot, but its like VERY VERY fine tip dot with the glasses on. (i'm doing looking at it about 2 or 3 feet away hopefully thats not too close?). without the classes on the beam is insanely...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

Thanks all for your help! i've gone with the greener ones after some talk with Garok, He says they ARE the same ones (gp13) that the eagle pair site shows, he just didnt feel completely comfortable with their claim of it being as low as 610 but it should work well for 650 that i plan to use it...

Hey thank you for the reply! i think i'm going to pull the trigger on these then! Real quick, On your page i did see the 'update' that says they received a 2.5OD rating at 635nm wavelength, I asume that means the test you did gave that result. is 2.5OD not enough protection to save your eye...

Dear Garoq! I've been informed that you are Survival laser and It would be okay to ask you a question about a pair of safety glass you sell (or may not sell) on here. I've been looking for a pair to protect me with my first 16xDVD rom LD 650nm that i'll be probably running at 150-200mw (maybe...

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

My first search results on ebay put those at around 90-100 bucks shipped. WEllers aren't that much more and sometimes less if you go used.. I also was kind of meaning just the red/orange handle wellers too possibly, the stuff i've owned untill now has been radio shack cheapy stuff that ends up...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

So your pair would not be sufficient for a blu ray diode then right? The green pair i've been leaning more towards : Eagle Pair® 190-470nm & 660-760nm Laser Safety Goggles say they go up to 470nm so they might be more suited towards being able to do blu ray as well some day? I cannot find...

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

You sir are right! I've been eyeballing 'weller' brand ones, think thats not a bad choice? I'll have to wait till i come into a little extra money first :)

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

These were going to be my first choice, but I've since wondered between this pair and the green other pair (660-760nm) becuase i may get my hands on a bluray diode one day and want to play around with it and the more greenish lense pair might be better suited for that ? But I do appreciate your...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

Oh very interesting so as you drive more power into them their wavelength starts to climb a bit? according to the post you gave it looks like they dont actually start at 650 but more like 653-655 ... and even tho those glasses says 660 and up, they still will protect a little bit lower than 660...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

I guess my question has morphed a little more into this straight forward phrasing: Would these glasses: Eagle Pair® 190-470nm & 660-760nm Laser Safety Goggles Protect me adequetly (a 1 second direct hit or less) from a 650nm REd laser at around 200mw?

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

Very informative post thank you, Though your final recommendation (the orangies) they dont seem to offer much protection for 650nm Spectrum which is where i'm going to be stating my excursions. I'm going to be using Ld's from DVD burners, and possibly 'eventually' moving up to bluray LD's from...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

Good to know! I'm mostly doing this as a hobby to salvage Ld's from old drives though, not sure if i'll get into lower wavelengths unless they get reallllly cheap :) For now I just wana play around with the 650 but, maybe the first pair i linked would be better since they seem to scoop lower on...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

Thanks for the chime in! (people please still contribute i haven't purchased yet). Is there a point of too much protection then? I.e. you cant even see what its shining at or possibly reflecting off? And i'm guessing that my 650 will be a little more visable than your 635? I just want to make...

I've decided on Eagle Pair Now which ones for 650nm?

Hey guys after deliberating for a while i decided it was not worth going with a cheap 20 dollar pair of glasses not knowing if they'd be safe, so i read lots of post and decided eaglepair is worth the extra 20 bucks as they seem to be lowest price but still moderaly safe glasses.. I intend to...

Okay I may give that a try... What does that peice of glass that is there do?

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

WOW fantastic pictures!!! I'm not sure that there's like a loose peice of glass floating around in there, i just mean the circular peice that you can see the light relfect off , i think its not 'held in place' and so it jiggles a tiny bit back and forth.. it still generally in the same place...
