What could be causing this?! Input needed

Wow, I was such a rookie at this then. I actually still have this build. LOL

    445nm 6 watt - 2c Mag-Lite build

I do not have a meter, but I'm guessing from the spec sheet that this diode is around 7 watts with no optics, its more than likely a little over 6 with a lens. I need to invest in a meter someday since I have a good collection of builds. I started building around the time I joined LPF so its...

    445nm 6 watt - 2c Mag-Lite build

I am very happy to see that the LPF is still alive and active! Big thanks to those who keep this place going. I just wanted to share this build with the community. Sharp GH05C01B9G - opinions?

I have just ordered a Sharp GH05C01B9G diode on eBay. Will be using a VN-30 20mm 1500mA buck driver with it, powered with 2 18650 2500mah batts. This will be my first 520nm as I’ve been a 445nm fan since 2011. So I’m excited to see the differences in brightness, beam quality, dot density and so...

    3.6 watt light saber

Basically, I came up with this because I had extra parts laying around. I am very impatient and could not wait until I found a host online that seemed appealing. Anyone have any good hosts that hold 2 18650 that aren't gigantic in diameter?

    3.6 watt light saber

Yes 2 different cree hosts and some black electrical tape, haha. Read 3.6 on LPM. That is with a g1 installed.

    3.6 watt light saber

Just finished up my "light saber". 3.6 watt 9mm 445. How does it look? Thanks for looking!

Mohgasm 1.8a driver current test. Is this normal?

I'm sorry I don't understand what you are asking me. I desoldered the diode from the driver and I am just testing the driver with a multimeter. As soon as I connect the multimeter to the driver it begins to get really hot fast. The multimeter is showing the current at 1.74A and 7.5 volts. This...

Mohgasm 1.8a driver current test. Is this normal?

I am testing a Mohgasm driver I have. Its 1.8 constant current and I'm powering it with 2 3.7v 4000mah 18650's. I hook up the meter to the LD- and LD+ on the driver and it says 1.73a. This is good. My problem is that although I have a heatsink on top of the regulator on the driver, it...

What could be causing this?! Input needed

Ok, I received new batteries and upon testing out everything I'm getting the same results. I'm starting to lean towards a bad diode...

What could be causing this?! Input needed

I had it running with the stock driver removed and spring on the LD driver, but I had the same exact dimming results. I do not believe the stock driver is causing this. I've removed several chips from it and soldered on the LD driver to it carefully to where it wouldn't mess with my circuit. I...

What could be causing this?! Input needed

Here is some better pictures of the guts. Hope this helps, otherwise I'm going to start by picking up new batteries today. Also I wanna say thanks for all your help and replying! =-)

What could be causing this?! Input needed

I'm thinking its batteries too. Both measure 4.12 on meter but current is way different on each. Testing each by setting my meter on 20m for current test shows 6.8 for the first battery and 11.0 on the second. And that is after charging both of them. One battery is named "Ultrofire" and one...

What could be causing this?! Input needed

I'm not sure what kind of driver it is, here is a photo. And also the driver board in the background is bypassed I'm only using it for positive and negative contacts from the battery. I wrap the main driver being used to push the LD in electric tape to prevent shorts.

What could be causing this?! Input needed

Here is a video of it running. Notice it's very bright for a fraction of a second then it dims significantly and sooner or later starts flashing. 445nm - YouTube Running an M140 diode with huge heat sink 2 18650 4300mah batteries Using a 1.7 amp driver with small heatsink on the regulator All...
