After some experimenting I believe you're right about nonlinearity. I couldn't come up with any combination to create a nice smooth transition. I may end up just using a switch to toggle between 5 and 12v... or get a 100Ω pot like mentioned :) Thanks for your help, Shep

I have a potentiometer that goes from about 0-50 k ohm, and I'd like to reduce it's range to ~0-100 ohm. Is there any way to do this with added resistors? I've tried combinations of series and parallel but I can't seem to figure it out. Maybe one of the electronics gurus here could help? :)...

Yes, I guess it has a much lower total energy output overall because of the shorter time but that doesn't matter in the context of its use. The single huge pulse is probably enough to start a nuclear fission reaction, so as long as you get that reaction started, the time doesn't matter.

Yes, it is my build. I know that because I'm a first-time seller trust and reliability can be an issue (I've seen many threads of sales gone wrong), which is why I suggested that an intermediary might be required. I can post pictures of the innards if that helps with the build quality...
