    5mw red laser

Oh well, I guess I still gotta build one lol.

    5mw red laser

so I got a 5mw 650nm + 10 red laser, think this will burn through anything? I got it for like 3 dollars, well made too

    Goggles

Lol I repeat my above post. ;)

    Goggles

ahaha. Just don't respond, I find that the best way to stop a fire is to remove it's fuel source

    Goggles

I take it there's a long standing grudge?
  6. Ghostt

    Goggles

okay, I didn't get that form the faqs, okay I get it now. I'll read around more, and see what goggles are good for a smaller price.

    Goggles

now I understand that red is the "safest" because it doesn't require conversion, meaning no IR. Okay so to I need cheaper (not 500$) goggles that will work for a 2w red laser

    Goggles

kk, I can find it, didn't think about it at the time.

    Goggles

what would be a less damaging light then?
  10. Ghostt

    Goggles

I'm gonna use it for a bunch of stuff, most likely to light "fireworks" from a distance.

    Goggles

k I was wondering so If I need to get other people goggles, I'll probably end up buying a few more then.

    Goggles

couple questions, I have goggles that will work for the laser I'm getting. But what will happen if I don't have goggles on while using a 2w laser (I know to always where the goggles), Like obviously not point it in my eyes but way from me, would it still damage my eyes? And what about a welding...

    New Idea

so basically I'd need to have something to hold a diode inside a big host, or possibly an external battery pack attached to the host. are there any drivers, and diodes that could handle lets say 50w?
  14. Ghostt

    New Idea

yeah true, I was just thinking it'd make a portable 50w possible. If you can get over the other hurdles.
  15. Ghostt

    New Idea

Wouldn't a more powerful diode solve that problem?
  16. Ghostt

    New Idea

I have a new idea for a even more powerful laser, a lot of the problem with the bigger lasers is the heat they produce. I think I've found a way to reduce the need for a heat sink. I found that there are dielectric liquids for removing heat from electrical devices. you completely submerge the...

    SOme questions

I'm thinking of building the compact 1.5W Stainless Steel RL-118 laser.

    SOme questions

I've had small lasers for along time, just not big ones, That's why I want to move up, how much should a 1.w portable laser cost?
  19. Ghostt

    SOme questions

I'm pretty new to the powerful type of lasers. I'm guessing lab is bigger. I want a at least semi-portable laser. doesn't have to be 2w, just powerful enough to burn stuff. (I'm NOT using this for destructive unsafe activities.) I'll go check out OEM I might have to wait til next pay check to...

    SOme questions

So basically I've had lasers, I can solder, I can build electronics.. but I want to take it to a new level and build a 2w blue laser burner. (or 1w/1.5w, but would prefer 2w). Are there any tutorials here, or on the web somewhere that can show me how to do this, I'm looking for a minimal cost...
