I totally agree, it doesn't really make sense.

The module fits fine without the front (collimating) lens. The problem with this is that it obviously needs a collimating lens to project a precise dot instead of a spotlight. So, a seperate lens which fits in the head of the torch would solve the problem (and would be focusable)

Unfortunately the lens cap is about 2mm wider in diameter. I contacted the seller and they said they would send me a lens that fits. I'll wait and hope that it does.

I think I'll buy the waterproof one from rayfoss, only thing I'm not sure about is batteries. Would a 3.6v or 3.7v li-ion CR123A fry the driver given the module is rated at 3v? If so, is it possible to get a 3v rechargable CR123?
