    So confused.... help please?

and also, i'm using an adjustable power source that i built to connect to a wall outlet. does that change anything? The power source is very reliable.

    So confused.... help please?

ARGLaser, thanks for the offer but i am in the united states. AnthoT, if i need 8 volts and was only using 7.5, why would the diode have flashed like that? And also, i want to at least be able to burn a peice of electrical tape or light a match when i present, so is 95mA going to be enough...

    So confused.... help please?

Hi everyone! So i was working with a new PHR805-T diode and a custom built LM317 regulator. I tested the regulator for 15 minutes, and there was no current fluctuation. I set the regulator to 110mA, and had 7.5 volts coming in. So i plug the diode in, set it in the heatsink, turn it on, and it's...

    Little help please?

One more quick question; the diodes of the same model number are built to the same specs, so how much of a difference can there be? Is it just by absolute chance, or is there another factor to how far you can push a diode?

    Little help please?

i wasn't really concerned about the money, like i said the point of that little experiment was to test the durability of the diode and the amount of stress it can handle. thanks for the resources and all the input. this was a learning experience! and i haven't really gotten to the research...

    Little help please?

i was trying to see when it would break down. Im doing a project for school. So i took temp measurements and current measurements and charted it with performance. I don't know a whole lot about the actual building process or the proper procedure yet as I'm just getting started. I believed that...

    Little help please?

i have it running from a power supply. 8.5 volts coming in. after the driver, i had originally about 150-200 mA. then i started increasing it slowly to see if i could juice it up a bit. it was running around 500-600mA when i was done and it was burning like a dream. so could i have burnt...

    Little help please?

I recently finished constructing a 405nm, 120mw laser using this module Laser module w/ heatsink and AR coated glass lens (405-450nm) [M0019] - $12.99 : Modwerx Shop and this diode PHR-805T laser diode 405nm 100-120mW [M0025] - $9.99 : Modwerx Shop I built my own driver circuit using an...

A Little Help... Or a Lot

well morgan, i was just looking for a quick bit of PERSONALIZED advice. i get what you were saying though lol and i've been to your "i want to build a laser" (which i think is awesome btw, good job) do you think that it would be completely necessary to heatsink that diode?

A Little Help... Or a Lot

This is actually going to be my first laser that ill be constructing completely. im 17 and i major in electronics at my high school, so i have a decent idea of what to do, i just want to make sure i dont break my diode (cost -_-) and that i can get a good amount of use out of it. will i need a...

A Little Help... Or a Lot

Hey! My name is craig and i just signed up today. Ive used this forum for information for a long time now, so i figured instead of searching through old threads for answers i may or may not find, i should probably just ask my question. So, i am building a blu ray laser into a flashlight. for...
