    looking for heatsinks

    im using a LM317 regulator Driver and i am using a PC PSU which supply's 12v, i know the the LM317 which the extra Voltage in heat so i want to attach a heatsink to it, but how???

    Do I need a heatsink?

    this is the Heatsink i have, as you can see it has flat parallel sides which i can drill (probably with a piller drill and a jig). once the hole was drilled i would then insert the housing and paste some thermal component between the housing and the individual 'walls'. would this be effective...
