    Data recovery on ipod?

Glad you got your data, regardless of how long it took. That's the important part!

    Digi-Key vs Mouser

I've used both here in the states. Never had any problems with either. I prefer Digi-key, but will go with mouser for some items. I highly recommend both! I've never had any shipping cost issues, it's always been near what I've estimated.

    Data recovery on ipod?

If it was only the headphone jack that broke, you should still be able to connect to the unit with a data cable and pull the information off. Do not use the SYNC function or apple software, it doesn't always work properly! I do NOT use apple software for my sync / upload / download. I utilize...

    Call a Cab

As a past first responder (Jaws of life response truck); this video is about as graphic as can be shown without being on the scene yourself. I won't even begin to describe the scenes that I have responded to. There are two that come to mind that make the one posted by Prototype seem like a...

Low powered Laser, why a GREAT success in BIRD control?

I tried this last week with a couple of ravens that were in my co-workers pickup truck bed digging in the trash. I was using my red laser, defocused greater than 15'. I was about 20' out and they saw the red dot on the snow and took off not to return. My co-worker was impressed and happy they...

The "what is your technical back ground" thread.

Hmm, guess I can add to this thread as well, my background also varies: BS in Civil Engineering, emphasis on Structural Electricians apprentice - 6 years while in Jr High / High School Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator - built several different circuits for this hobby alone General tinkerer &...

    Ebay Diode Driver Help

It's not too bad till it's about -40*, then I've gotta really worry about the truck not starting (Diesel). You get used to it as it is a really dry cold. As for ice sculptures, I'll skip doing it with a laser, the chainsaw, iron & soldering gear works just fine for those interested. I have...

    question about eBay.....

If the seller is unable to cancel the bid, you can try to go through bid retraction. I've had to do it twice when someone used my computer for their ebay purchases under my account (I log out of ebay after all sessions now). Took a couple of minutes, but was able to get all the errant bids...

    Ebay Diode Driver Help

I'm in the interior of Alaska. I have not been hitting the local transfer sites looking for DVD burners getting tossed as it's currently -23*F and only expected to get colder. I'll wait till spring before I start searching for them too hard.

    Ebay Diode Driver Help

I may play with adjusting the ebay one again later if I get another bad dvd burner to use, or a cheap diode. I don't know why the two don't work the same, I may have gotten a bad one. I didn't raise the current higher or mess with the preset value. It was purchased for a 405 build that ended...

    Ebay Diode Driver Help

I'm only stating what I found when I tested it. I still have it in my parts box for a future test. It may be possible that my VOM is bad and not giving me the right readings (it is a fluke). The 325 may be too much, but turning the pot in either direction gives a much dimmer beam. The V5...

Eagle Pair safety glasses both 200-450nm and 580-760nm from powerfulpurchase on Ebay

Thanks for the review! I picked up a pair for my red build. Although they removed all of the side splatter & most of the primary dot, I can still see a red dot on the wall. I definitely won't be shining towards anything reflective, but for the price, I have to say they are worth it. They are...

First Red build, combined with Blue 405; then back to red

Sorry the photos are not working. I must not have enough posts yet to get them operational. Edit - Got them working by attaching and linking to the attachment. Utilizing Flickr just didn't want to work properly... Oh well.

First Red build, combined with Blue 405; then back to red

I am still a newb to the high power laser world. I freely admit it. I welcome criticism and ideas as I continue my building experience with these particular devices. This posting is slightly long, as it contains two separate builds with one working laser as the result. I had some time to...

    Ebay Diode Driver Help

I tried one of these with my 16x Sony red first build (this writeup coming shortly); 3V input gave me 2.9V out & 325mA at the diode. It wasn't very bright and didn't want to burn anything, even when properly focused. I couldn't put a good dot on a telephone pole a 1/4 mile away, but 300 feet...

    Diode press for sale $15.00

Ordered one of these last week and it arrived very quickly. Same day it arrived, a 405nm diode arrived, so I was able to test it right away! It worked GREAT! As a newb to the laser world, this made things go together very smoothly! Highly recommended tool to have in your build kits.

I fully understand having a constant current over a constant voltage. Have had issues with a few circuits in the past due to this issue. I am definitely not afraid to ask questions. 73 is Best Regards; typically used by Hams at the end of a conversation. Habit. As for the 88's; only my...

Message cut back for saving room. I appreciate the welcome folks. As for the diodes in the old drives, I'm going to say that two of them are the long closed cans as I've already got them pulled. I believe the other is a short closed can per your picture, but will take the caliper to it...

Hello all from the soon to be Frozen North of the US; aka Interior Alaska. I've done quite a bit of reading on here already, and know that I have MUCH more to do. Am looking forward to ordering a kit and getting something built with a bluray diode. This site is a great help and was glad...
