Thanks for that insight. Doesn't Sharp do any binning of their own, though, like most LED mfgs? When you say a "blue at 488 or cyan at 492", I recall somebody else remark that 488 is closest to cyan, while 492 starts to pick up a tinge of green. Is that a fair assessment?

Sure it's not a matter of color shift due to driving it at higher voltage and current? Same diode just produces 488 @ 60mW and 492 @ 100mW? Or would they have a natural tendency lean towards one color or the other?

CurtisOliver: Would you consider doing something like a candlestick graph spectra of wavelength by price? Maybe scaled in increments of $50, or a logarithmic scale if some of them are -really- expensive in the $1000's of dollars?

Well, it really twas no big effort on my part. I enjoyed writing the script, and it spat the output for me. A little cleanup in Notepadd++ with a regular expression find/replace and done. You can quickly find the wavelength by hitting Ctrl+F in your browser. And now that it's hosted on this...

Yeah, I noticed the wolfram one was broken as well. Curious though, the Wavelength Calculator you linked to doesn't use the same gamma factor as the ones above. I compiled the spectrum from their math and it comes out a bit different. Maybe darker, or shifted slightly. Mine:: 460nm 461nm...

This took me a bit of researching, so I thought I'd post a simple reference of wavelength to RGB color codes for use in signatures and posts. There is no "correct" color conversion, and many people have their own adaptation... this is just one option that looks nice. Shorthand hex color codes...

I would like to see another, less complete, list that only contains popular, notorious, and diodes otherwise reasonably expected to be used and sourced in this hobby. Perhaps give them a birth-death year and/or popularity gradient (bold/big font more popular).
