Your argon sure needs some TLC before its gonna work properly, thats for sure.

It's been a year since i last ran this thing, so heres a new video of this old gem running: YouTube - Argon laser startup This time it uses a buck converter type smps psu.

And my argon is alive again as well :D Built a buck converter style psu and it fired right up.

I borrow this thread, i finally tried to fire up my argon again after sitting in the basement for almost a year, and it wont start!! Ignitor does lase it just as things's laser did, but it wont stay lit and from time to time it fires and stays lit down the capillaries. I was going to sell this...

I have a FSX2 ilda dac if ur interested, i bought it from norm on ebay for i think 199 bucks but due to the lack of interest in previous sale attemts u can have it for 50 bucks shipped including a nice looking usb cable.

Yup! They tried to charge me 400 bucks shipping for an oscilloscope once, but that deal was promptly cancelled.

Re: Nec glg-3030 glass argon, pics. That looks like a sp161b ignitor, was the original ignitor broken ? Beautiful tube however, im blue with envy!:)

Re: Argon Laser cooling fan. How many A does it draw ? My fan wants almost 2A at 12-18V.

Re: Argon Laser cooling fan. Hmm the SP161B wanned 240CFM, i guess the older SP tubes were alittle more inefficient and doesent have as good cooling fins as the LaserPhysics tubes.

Coooool! I only know one other dude who made a co2 laser, sam g on the laserfaq.

I mnaged to get most of the glue out so now the shutter moves again, tho there seem like someone have been attacking the shutter with a needle or something.

Ya i got it from Aviv on israeli ebay. I need a tiny allen wrench so i can take the shutter apart and remove the epoxy, i guess its glued because it opens and closes too easily, like closes if you bump the laser slightly or something in that direction.
