    Laser diode broken?

    Out of desperation, I gave up and directly hooked up the laser diode to my 123 lithium batteries, 3 volts. (Yes, i know it's going to kill the diode, but atleast it's better than crying over a non working dorcy jr.) and guess what? The result was not any better than a dollar store keychain...

    Can't i potentially just cut a whole in the side? and i thought the Dorcy junior battery also supplied 3 volts, which many people said was enough to power the driver and diode. I'm confused.

    out of desperation I eventually just removed the ohm resister to see if that was the problem. About the red wire, I think I should just cut it off. According to Kenom's "Memine" video on youtube.

    So the driver won't fit in the barrel at all? Do I have to get all the supplies in your tutorial to make the laser? (Becasue i don't have batteries or a custom tube or any of that stuff.) :undecided:

    According to Kenom's vid on Metacafe, the Dorcy already has a booster driver. I bought a preassembled driver from Stonetek a while ago but i was too lazy to even touch that. God I feel so naive!!

    Um.. actually the wires aren't insulated but I assumed they would never touch eachother. I am soldering the LD to the circuit board, (I think that's what it's called. It's a green circle with connections on it :thinking:) not the heatsink. What does MXDL mean? I will post some better pics...

    I bought "Surface Mount FULL RANGE ADJUSTABLE Laser Driver pre-assembled" from Stonetek some time ago, and i was wondering if i could somehow integrate into the minimag. Can you show me where to solder the - and + connections onto? I am super new here so please assume I am from mars and explain...

    Where does this wire go on my dorcy mod? Making lasers are so frustrating! Last time I only got a weak red dot, so I ordered a new diode, but the results are same! I tried to quick fix the wire by wrappinng it around the spring thing underneath, but i think that's why the i need to budge the...
