    Difference between 50mW and 150mW

Todd's picture says it all. Look at the reflection of the beams and you will see a nice comparative of the apparent brightness. Our eyes does not detect light linearly....in fact it's more log-normal....... so what was said above is more or less true in that 2x the light output would result in...

Finally got my 150+ pen from Optotronics

Throw in a couple of Energizer Lithiums in there and witness the true power of this laser! You might not get the most out of this laser using rechargables. I have this laser too and it is AWESOME!

Looking at these phenomenal pics is making my pants bulge..... .....must be my wallet getting bloated.....time to buy another RPL!!!! Todd, would it be ok if I request some Hi-Res pics of some of these? These would make great wallpapers. Great work!!!!

    RPL 425 studio image

That's the best picture I've seen of a laser so far on the Internet. Great job! You're making me REAL SORRY I DIDN'T GET THE SILVER ONE!!!!!

    Customs SUCKS

Canada has no laser import restrictions whatsoever. I can import a 5 megawatt laser from China, declare "dangerous big-ass 5 Megawatt class XIII Laser" and it will still get to me with no risk of seizure or fines. I think, however, over the next couple of years, Canada will introduce...

    Opto RPL Registry

The beam expander is TERRIFIC! I suggest that anyone who owns an RPL (or equivalent) should get one. It gives you a lot of flexibility (which means a lot more fun). I can focus the beam down to a tiny point at a distance....which definitely makes it a lot easier to burn (minimum focusing...

    Opto RPL Registry

Hi Everyone, I figure it'll be interesting to see how many of us have these superb series of lasers made by Optotronics. Those of you who own one (or more), please chime in and give us details (and pics!). I'll start: Just got this TOTALLY AWESOME laser yesterday: Model: RPL-425...

where can an american order highpowered green laser pointers?

Optotronics +100mW Green Laser Pointer This may be slightly over your price range, but this will guartantee that you are a happy man. There's nothing more disappointing than to put your hard earned money down on something the ends up to be not-as-advertised, which happens a lot in this hobby...

    Optotronics HELP

I guess I'm the odd one out. I prefer the black.... I bought the RPL-425....so I figured that the beam by itself is going to attract enough attention... Also, something about black gives it a classic look. Silver looks great too, tho! WP

    Green Laser Comparison??

I purchased this exact laser about a month ago. YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT! If you've never seen a true 150mW greenie before, you are in for one pleasant surprise.....even more so when the sun goes down.... :eg: Optotronics is one of the best companies in America when it comes to customer...

    Divergence over Power

Ah. Got it. Thanks Elektrofreak. You're right....that is a cheesy diagram... (just kidding!) :na: Ok...so the beam does get tighter in the "far-field", which is the important part. Out of curiousity, is there an optic out there that can reduce the divergence AND keep the beam diameter the...

    Divergence over Power

Hmmm.... I thought the whole point of better divergence is to get a tighter beam, so that the beam goes farther. So are you saying that the lower the divergence, the bigger the spot will be at large distances? Doesn't make sense to me.....

    Divergence over Power

Hi Guys, I'm in the market for a nice portable high powered laser. I managed to muster up some excess cash (gotta love eBay to help get rid of junk)....enough for an RPL-425 from Optotronics. I this power range, I'm thinking that divergence is a lot more important than power because I think...

Looking out for some answers about olike/opto pointers

Thanks for chiming in, Jack! All is now well! I got a laser that is as advertised. Actually, scratch that. I got a laser that is more than advertised! It is a terrific laser! Jaffi, I think you made a great decision! You will be VERY happy. Spec-for-spec, I believe it is the better...

Looking out for some answers about olike/opto pointers

Sorry about that.....I guess I might be reading Opto's website incorrectly. According to the website, they do mention that the "Green Pen Pointer" series lasers are IR filtered: "Coatings block >96% of all IR" If this is untrue, then I strongly advise Jack to remove this statement from his...

Looking out for some answers about olike/opto pointers

Also important to consider this: I don't believe the O-like laser is IR filtered, so the 120mW rating would include IR in addition to green. I know for a fact that the Opto laser IS IR filtered and the 150mW rating is the rating for the green wavelength. I think IR contributes only a minor...
