Sad to say.. my laser diode died before I could even put it into my Aixiz module. But I have got another dvd burner and I did get the IR diode out but I don't know how to get the laser diode out. I have a picture of it that I just took and I'm attaching it. There was alot of that white rubbery...

OHHH OK lol. well I'm just a step behind that counts right? Anyway thats what I'm also trying to figure out. Unless all you have to do focus the laser dot into a small one.

cool dude! now we're in the same place aahaa. But i think you push the diode out from the top part with something. If you don't care if it breaks or something i guess you could speed it up by hiting it harder? I dunno. I haven't got mine out yet though because i want to mess around with it more...

No i mean about desoldering the little board on it lol. I already have the diode out of the heatsink

thanks Xenodius. So if I was to use a solder iron i should just get it warm enough to melt the solder iron and then move the iron away quickly and wipe the solder off or what?

Yup i have. this one is a red laser diode. Oh yea and that tool was what I was using.

It is pretty sharp but I'm guessing its probably not sharp enough. I also am a little scared about the dowel method because one wrong move and all that moneys wasted. unlesss i just put back the dvd drive together and exchange it hehehehe. i should try to use a saw. it should work quicker than this.

I don't know why but its taking me forever to snip it out!! What should i use if I want to tap it out? i dont have a wooden dowel at the moment..
