For those of you looking for a really cheap smoke machine, can I recommend the humble steam iron. Fill with smoke fluid, switch on, and voila! lots of lovely smoke. Just remember to flush it out with plenty of water before returning it to its proper usage  ;) For those on an even cheaper...

Yeah, I think it might have been my fault that blew the board, I had it on my worktop, and I found a couple of tiny screws on it after the event. No matter, as this was purchased to fit into a 3D maglite, so 4.5 volts with a resistor on it should be just fine. Thanks for the help. Now where did...

LED Museum did a review of the Ebay 240mw laser. Rated at 31mw. Bit of a discrepancy there, methinks.

Just received my 100mw laser today, very very impressed. Unfortunately, the power board died after 30 minutes, gave a blue flash, and a puff of smoke :'(. Any ideas of the optimum voltage this diode ought to be run at, I bought this with the intention of modding it into a flashlight/laser...
