jerry i think you lost a "2"... ;) usb gives you 2.5W of power, at least it should. so if you want to power a 1W ld you would need a driver with an efficiency of at least 40% (should be possible IMHO, but i have no numbers to prove this). for a 2W ld your driver needs to be more than 80%...
