    Focusing down in an aixiz

Sadly if you want the most WOWLAZER you should just go with green... my cheapy green 25mw is FAAAR brighter than 100mw of 405nm... and god forbit I bring out the DX 200mw greenie... It's a matter of sensitivity. Our eyes have a peak sensitivity near the 530nm spectrum... and pretty poor...

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Welcome the the profession :) Enjoy your first 2 years. It's the last time you'll have "vacation" for a long time :) I'm not that much further. Gonna Be R3 in 10 days... Where are you at btw, if you don't mind me asking? And while I'd love to make things smaller, I realize I just don't have...

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Well good news so far... Battery life does not seem to be 2 mins. I turned it up a bit... prolly about 115mw. With intermittent use, of 30seconds -1 min at a time, I have yet to drain 1 cr2 battery, and I've prolly gotten at least 10-15mins. I guess if you don't continuously run it, it does better?

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Since I have 2 more diodes and drivers in the mail... I started looking for hosts... I think CR2 is too small to easily work with... (plus I have some LiFePo4 CR123s) so I picked these up from DX http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2110 I know it's cheesy but I wanted a blue host lol...

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Finally I can post links! Here's some pics of the innards of the light. I replaced the buck (black thing) with the sanded lavadrive. then I unsoldered the led and dremeled a hole in the top circuit board and set the diode on it and passed the pins through the board and soldered wires to them to...

    MicroDrive - CR123 3.0v and RCR123 3.6v

No. I use the same driver in my laser. I can use RCR2 (3.6v) and CR2 (3.0V) interchangably with no issues. The driver accepts 2.5-5.5 volt inputs and drives a red or blue diode.

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Ok I thought buying flashlights was the horrible disease that was going to damn me to be broke forever. (until I finish residency and pay off my 190k loans) Looks like I was wrong. There's much worse... I just bought more drives and driver boards.... I'm sick... I should try selling this CR2...

    PHR-803T for about $20

Not meaning to jack the thread or anything, but it's certainly possible to do a cr123 host. The lower limit in logical size is the driver board, and I managed to fit the lava drive into my cr2 host, which over all is shorter than 1 aa battery, and a little wider. Check my post if you're...

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Man I wish it would let me post links. this drives me nuts. I'm not a surgeon, but I'm a doc and I do some basic procedures on people. The Jil is about the same size as the ION, So you should be able to fit it. The biggest problem I had was demeling Dr. lava's driver down without destroying...

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Thanks guys, couldn't have done it without the people and the info on this forum. I'm not sure if you can fit a laser in something smaller than a CR2 body... This was pushing it. had I gotten Jil DD, I don't think it would have fit. I didn't want the azixis module lens to stick past the old...

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

So I posted a few weeks ago about my first attempt... Got 2 X-box drives and destroyed them... only 1 diode survived... but I managed to get a working laser. Dr. Lava's driver was used and I had to do extensive dremeling to get it into the case.... I put the cover mineral lens on it (will...

Help a noob, Laser building questions

Hello all, I've been staring at the lasers on this forum for too long with laser envy. I would just buy one, as I have the electronic skills of well, dirt. but current debt and budget contraints (of my own fault) do not allow this option. So I was thinking I have an Xbox HD-DVD drive I use as...
