    Thanks for the link, gazoo. Is there any value at all in the infra red diode? Is it likely to be as powerful as the red but simply invisible? I suppose that wouldn't be as much fun. I'm curious though.

    thanks everyone! LarryQ, I have two sony 16X dual layer! Does the dual layer mean an even more powerful diode or is that more based on the speed. Is there a way to look up what sort of diode a particular model of burner uses?
