    More burning from sbdwag

I switched my Glass axis lens for a Meridith lens I purchased from LarryDFW a couple of months ago and I picked up mucho burn abilities. Again heres the specs 808nm 2W C-mount diode with Meridith Lens assembly running at 2800ma's It took about 3minutes to burn through this piece of pine wood...

    808nm 2W c-mount first shots video

Here is my first video of the new heatsink/collimator in action on the 808nm labby. Im running the diode at 2800ma's and everything is looking very good. I will probably hold up on the 5W until I add some active cooling to the sink based on some good recommendations here on the forum but I have...

    Heatsink/Collimator for 5W C-mount

Just finished up the machining of the Heatsink/Collimator for my soon to be operational 5W 808nm Labby. Here are some photos and a picture of the design If anyone is interested I can supply them with Solidworks and or dxf's of the design. Im using a Aixiz glass lens assembly to focus and then...

"Do you smell that? Cardboard, son" video

"You smell that? Do you smell that? Cardboard, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of cardboard in the morning" Well sort of. Thanks to Chris at heruursciences sending me a decent 1W 808nm diode I thought lets see what this sucker can do. So I bumped it up to...

    Spank me if you must

Spank me if you must :spank: Kill me and eat me  Stab me in the back :fightin: Send me to hell in a handbag :eg: Take my pilots license away :wtf: Knock me into next year :twak: Hit me so hard I will starve to death before I quit rolling. :bumpit: But I had to do it. This is My...

Waiting on my 5w C-mount diode

Here is a video of the Lab unit Im making for a 5W 808nm diode Im waiting on from Chris at heruursciences. When I get the diode have to do some final machining on the sink/collimator and I should be ready to burn. I will post a video when I get it going. Right now Im burning testing the...

High Current Toys for Big Boys

Getting ready to build my 5W 808nm C-mount labby and I have amassed several component required for the build. Im basically going to attach a 5v 12a power supply to the diode directly in series with a current sensing resistor and a current limiting resistor. At 7A with about 3V's dumping across...

Lets Collimate a C-mount diode ok!

Im looking for options (that do not take a degree in optics) to collimate or focus a C-mount 808nm diode. Seems like the easiest way would be to purchase a Optic system designed specifically to collimate a high powered laser. Surplus shed has some and Chris has a Missle laser optics system for...

Whats a good current value for a 2W diode

If Im running 1250ma's in a 1W would it be safe to assume that I can push 2500ma's into 2W or would perhaps 2250ma's be a better amount. And without a meter is there anyway to tell it Im driving it two hard. regards sbdwag

DIY 1W 808nm Labby fired up first time VIDEO

Just got my new project going tonight . Made a 1W IR Labby using some diodes I acquired from Chris. Im using a Meredith Module to colllimate the 9mm diode. As you can see from the video Im getting about 1.17a's thru the diode right now measuring across a 1% 1ohm power resister Im viewing...

    What will a 808nm 3w laser burn

Ive heard many people say that many IR has difficulty burning many objects because of the wavelength. I know from experience a 650nm 300 mw is barely able to burn white paper while a 150mw 405nm can burn thru easily. Question is will a 3.2 W have problems burning anything regards sbdwag

O-like has a 3.2W IR for sale on ebay !

Heres the link 3.2Watt 808nm Infrared laser module diode /focusable - eBay (item 180385717627 end time Aug-18-09 21:01:56 PDT) If a person was going to buy one of these other than goggles used ALL OF THE TIME what other precautions would one need to take. regards sbdwag

SLD1239JL-54 at 400ma on homemade labby

Here's some pics of my semi labby I whipped up to play with. I tried 200, 300, 350 and then why not? 400ma's on this. Ive got enough copper wrapped around the AixiZ module to sink all the heat so that should not be a problem. Ive got a glass lens on it also. I will probably make a aluminum...

    Aliens 2

At the beginning of Aliens II The Nostromo escape pod is captured by a deep space salvage ship and uses a laser to cut through the hatch. After the hatch is cut up a scanning laser is sent in to look for life forms. The special effects used by that laser produces a plane of laser light. Is...
