i just go t my 16X dvd burner and im taking it apart and i got to my diode but i noticed there are two witch one do i use in my laser??? :o

 about lasers heat and stuff does the beam get hot oor is it when it hits the material you are aiming at and the light frome the laser bugs the particals in the material and then they start moving around realy fast and then they exload ???????????????

du u have to use a 16X dvd burner diode in you laser if u want it to burn stuff or can u use lower or higher ??

do u have to use 16X dvd burner diodes to make your laser becaus i am making a science project i am using a mini mag flash light taking out the light ect then replacing it with a diode with a laser housing 12mm X 30mm if i use lower than 16X will my laser be weaker??? :o
