NSW - Labby Exempt from ban

Just doublechecking here - a 400mw lab style laser (mains powered) wont come under the scrutiny of the ban in NSW will it? Only battery operated handheld "pointer" lasers?

Green Labby powered by a stick pack

We call em stick packs in the RC field coz they sorta look like a stick. from left to right in clockwise fashion: EX PC PSU bridge rectifier Missile Switch Laser head (300 mw) 3000 mah NiMh stick pack MI LDD-40 driver pcb (on top of pack) connector from pack to electronics These drivers...

    Meridith Instruments LDD-40

I have this MI laser driver connected to my labby for battery operation. It works well, but I was wondering if it could run from a 7.2v RC Car stick pack or a 7.4 volt LiPo. Website says 6v, and I have lost the instruction sheet that came with it. If anyone has the sheet it would be greatly...

I just pranged my copter :(

Earlier this evening I was flying my RC copter around the park. A small dog came up to me and started to jump on me, saying hello. I tried to move the animal away with swift leg movements, without hurting it, but the dual task got the better of me. My rexy hit a tree and completly buggered the...

Converting a Labby into a portable

This quick tutorial will take you through the steps of converting a lab style laser into a "box" portable, like my frankenstien laser. I will be adding pictures later when I get a nice Alu box for my frankenstien. The steps however are pretty straightforward. Tools you will need: Assorted...

Frankenstien labby burns through CD Case

Now you get to see my crappy job at making a battery operated labby, but boy does this thing burn. Here it burns through a CD case. http://www.youtube.com/v/UvMxzAAdTQ4 If this thing is only 150mW tops, I cant wait to get an RPL 300, or a half or even 1 watt labby :D

Has anyone had experience with this 300mw portable

As the topic says, I am in the market for a pretty powerful green (you may have seen my previous post regarding a 300mw labby) but I decided a 1/3 watt portable would be heaps more fun. http://store.oemlasersystems.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_23&products_id=125 The guy who...

    Playing with my laser

I throw on the saftey goggles and burn various items with the laser. The CD case burns but you cant see any smoke due to the laser spot blooming, and the match goes up pretty quickly. All from around 2-3 feet from the laser. The match wasnt sharpied or anything, just a funky very short red head...

300mw Labbie - what to expect

Hi folks - aint been in for a while - given the lasers a break since having cataract surgery on my left eye, and taking good care of it (freak cataract - I'm 32!), thus no exposure to bright lights, sunnies when outdoors etc. My eye doc has given me the go ahead to resume normal living (i.e...

    Laser X/Y scanner in development

This is my fourth post, and will be for those who want to get their hand dirty with electronics and build their own laser scanners. I'll give the 1.2.3 on it, but it'll involve a soldering iron, a decent (100mw+) laser, and lots of tinkering. The gizmo will include: Full schematic available to...

    Moving House

I got barred from the LC forums for some unknown reason. At one stage I was working with a forum regular on a laser XY scanner, then got inundated in work and could not proceed. I finally found some time, pulled the circuits boards out of the cupboard, wondered where I had left it and logged...
