    RYOBI 445nm Schweet 4volt 6Wh battery!!

I'll guess its clear tape...

What is the most powerful portable laser?

CW or pulsed? I saw a hand-held ruby laser. They are pulsed, and it was in the hundreds or thousands of watts. here is one on youtube, but its not handheld. can cut holes in a razor blade Oh, and there is just Nd:YAG. It's not visible, so not as much fun. (1064nm) There's one from a US tank...

    RYOBI 445nm Schweet 4volt 6Wh battery!!

math is right, I just wanted to confirm that. here it is at home depot - $13 plus shipping And the fast charger charges in 36 minutes, kinda nice. I also wonder if it is protected, or if there products do that. I assume its the "impossible to make explode" chemistry based on the high recharge...

    RYOBI 445nm Schweet 4volt 6Wh battery!!

Interesting battery! Here is a link to the battry from the manufacturer It mentions 2000 recharge cycles, and 4v. I wonder what chemistry it is. Does it list mAh?

Which type of laser is the most efficient?

You don't calculate efficiency with mW per Ma. It is Mw per Mw. Power in versus power out. CO2 lasers can be up to 25-30%. Some commercial diodes can be up to 60%. I read some in the lab are up to 76% with a goal of 80% All these are in the IR range though. Also keep in mind the driver...

I want 2 build a truly powerful laser system!

he did say "truly diabolical." Not to mention removing the heat is difficult..

I want 2 build a truly powerful laser system!

Are you wanting to build this mega laser or buy it? What is your budget? You can get 3 808nm 40w diode bars and side pump a yov4 crystal to produce 1064nm. Then you place a ktp crystal into the optical cavity and out comes 523nm. Of course this is a very difficult task, lol. But you end up with...

    Soldering aluminum.

I read you can use standard 60/40 - 63/37, but you need very aggressive flux. linkage

    Perceiving 445nm

It may look different depending on the color of your walls, background. Make sure you try with a white background. And for me, It looks blue. Totally different then 405. *said 445, oops

My awesome fun with a 445 (sarcasm)

Ahh, I re-read what you said. I get it now. :p

So it did not have a heasink? How long was it on?

    Lead Testing?

Not that I think its a big danger, but.. Keep in mind you do not have to eat led to get lead poisoning. Lead can be absorbed through skin. (I know, it sounds strange). I've had lead poisoning by just handling lead/tin solder. I was working with solder so much one day, my fingers were covered in...

    Duration of afterimages?

I am not sure what you mean by longest after image. I am sure the answer is forever. I have never had this problem myself, I hope I never do. If you want to see a beam, then you need to terminate it. Something really black that will not be destroyed. Even then, there is still a risk. (black may...

    Anamorphic Prism Beam Correctrion Optics

Yes, but you will never get a round beam. The best you can hope for is a square beam, unless you can clip the corners..

445nm been running all day at almost 1.1W

Yesm, I mentioned temperature delta. My point was, it may get to hot to hold. Maybe if you hold it with 2 hands, you can become part of the heatsink. :D

Be sure to take another pic when your done, thanks.

445nm been running all day at almost 1.1W

Good info EF. Also keep in mind the host will reach these temperatures and you will not be able to hold it. However there is one good thing. The hotter the hot side gets, the easier it is to dissipate heat. Its a lot easier to dissipate 3 watts of heat when the temperature difference is higher...

It anything wrong with my diode and driver?

What daguin said. Not to mention, no load will harm the driver. You need a dummy load. Just use forum search and you can see how to build one.

    445nm bad diode?

If your next option is to replace it, then what can it hurt. 99% iso is better though, or better yet, lens cleaner that's safe for AR coatings. I would try it without hesitation.

    Kenometer Pro reviewed

haha. I am actually really partial to the layout of my meter's wiring. I like the hole in the shrink tube for the power wires. As far as accuracy goes, I am really happy. When its below 1w, the 1.1v voltage reference is pretty accurate. The only case accuracy is low, is on usb power above 1W...
